Rum River Bar and Grill — Beach Bar Review

If you’re in the area, you must go to Rum River for dinner on Monday. Their Surf and Turf is a bit different than what you would expect. OK, you have the petit filet mignon, but you have a choice between Crab Legs, Crab Cakes, or Jumbo Shrimp. How awesome is that? Or, Tuesday if you have children because kids eat free on Tuesday. Two children’s meal for free when you order one entrée. Tuesday is also All-You-Can-Eat breaded fried Shrimp with fries and Slaw. Wednesday is All-You-Can-Eat Fish and Chips, But Thursday is the pièce de résistance, your choice of three Buckets. Their all-time favorite Hurricane Bucket, a Reef Bucket, or Fried Bucket.

When we went to Rum River we decided to get there for Happy Hour, which starts at 4pm and runs until 7pm, as well as Friday and Saturday from 9pm until closing. When we walked in, the smell was delicious! It smelled like the sea but not an overpowering fish smell. Even though you can have the Rum River Runner, the Tiki Rita, or Mike’s Painkillers all day, every day for just $5, I was looking forward to a few $2.00 domestic drafts. Happy hours specials besides the drafts include $3.25 Wells, $4.50 Sangrias (Homemade) and $3.50 House Wines.

There’s a live band Thursday through Sunday nights. The music of the “Beach Bums” was lively the Thursday night we were there and I had a Hurricane Bucket and probably a bucketful of Coronas and a Painkiller, so I needed more than a painkiller the next morning. My friend chose the Fried Bucket and started with a Jamaica Me Crazy, though she later switched to Tiki Ritas. She said the drinks were amazing!

Our conclusion and Beach Bar Review Drink Rating

At Rum River Bar & Grill, make a reservation for Catches Waterfront Grille. Otherwise, you can just drop into the bar anytime with no special dress code. I highly recommend Rum River for dinner and drinks. Not only are the food and drinks amazing but the staff is super nice and courteous! Even though the prices are a little expensive for food when you don’t get one of the specials, the food is worth every penny!

We give Rum River’s a 4 and 1/2-drink rating for great drinks, great food, and unmatched customer service.
