Marina Cantina — Beach Bar Review

I have been to Marina Cantina a total of six times now and each time has been better than the visit before. The staff is great and very friendly, they are very prompt with your order and waste no time. The food is flavorful and filling especially the Chicken tacos I had as an appetizer. They came with three soft tacos, braised chicken in salsa, jalapeno crema, queso fresco, avocado, and cilantro. And, for dinner I had the Lobster Enchilada, normally I would have had the Black Angus New York strip, but my friend said I should try to cut down on the red meat. So, I guess will only have steak six times this week. Anyway, the Lobster was a delightful change of pace. It was an Ancho-orange glazed lobster from Maine, with fire roasted corn and chipotle, Veracruz Rice, and Monterey cheese. Wow, my taste buds were going wild. It’s a good thing I had my Corona to calm things down.

Their assortment of drinks is wide and plentiful. If you don’t know what to get, the prevailing fan favorite here is the Bahama Mama or a Margarita, everybody likes a Margarita.

Of all the times I have been there, it has never been super busy there so waiting in long lines is rare. Most times they have sports on the TVs, which suits me just fine, but they are more than willing to change channels if you ask. The best part of all is the location, right near the Gulf, which allows for beautiful views during the day and absolutely stunning beachfront sunsets. If you get there at the right time you can hear Latin music and see the sunset, all while enjoying a delicious meal.

Our conclusion and Beach Bar Review Drink Rating

Marina Cantina is a genuine Cuban Cantina and it seemed as if everyone spoke Spanish there except me, but the waiters and waitresses didn’t act all superior when I didn’t understand something, like some French places I have been to eat. Everyone was very pleasant and quick to get me what I wanted. Their Happy Hour is 4 – 6pm Sunday to Thursday, with $6 Casa (house) Margaritas; $4 Sangrias, well drinks, or House wines; $5 Craft beers; $3 Bottled Beers (including my favorite Corona); and $2 Domestic Drafts, plus $5 Primeros (appetizers) and $3 pan bread or street corn. It was awarded the 2016 Golden Spoon “Best New Restaurant.”

We gave the Marina Cantina a 4-drink rating for great food & drinks, plus outstanding service.
